Radon Stakeholders Forum and Workshop: April 10-11, 2008
The USEPA Region V, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Ohio Association of Radon Professionals will be conducting a RADON STAKEHOLDERS FORUM AND WORKSHOP on Thursday, April 10th and Friday, April 11th at the Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Sixteen (16) hours of ODH Radon Licensing Continuing Education will be given for your full attendance at this two day meeting. The cost is $40 for both days which includes snacks and drinks during breaks. Lunch and parking will be on your own. Hotel information will be forthcoming along with registration forms and an agenda.
The format for this Forum will be the same as used at national radon meetings. The USEPA from Washington D.C. and Region V, Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD), and other speakers from the national level will be represented.
Thursday (04/10) topics include a welcome session by the USEPA and the ODH, a keynote presentation by Bill Field, "Radon-Safe Homes Save Lives", "Radon and Real Estate", "Radon and the Builder Industry", "Introduction to Jared's Law", and "Creating a Radon Leadership Network in Region V".
Friday (04/11) topics include "Radon Leaders Saving Lives - the Role of the Medical Community", discussion sessions, "Leaving in Action - Action Plans for Saving Lives in Region V", and afternoon sessions by the Ohio Department of Health on "Jared's Law" and "Radon Testing in Schools".
More information will be provided as it becomes available. OARP members who responded to our June, 2007 membership drive will be partially reimbursed for attending the Forum.
The CRCPD is handling registration and forms will be sent out in the coming weeks.

General Membership Meeting - February 04, 2008 - Columbus, Ohio
There will be an OARP General Membership meeting on Monday, February 04 at 6:30 PM at Panera Bread (3625 Fishinger Blvd., Hilliard, Ohio, 614-876-9900) to announce the results of the vote for Directors for the 2008-2009 term. Members and guests are encouraged to attend for the dinner meeting. A meeting of the Directors will follow to discuss OARP business and the Spring, 2008 CE conference (open to general membership and guests). The meeting will be conducted by Tom Jessup if Gail Manning is not present.
OARP members should have received a BALLOT FOR DIRECTORS by January 08, 2008. Please vote for up to four (4) nominees to serve as OARP Directors for the 2008-2009 term. Directors for the 2007-2008 term are Gail Manning, Wendell Montgomery, Woodie Moss, Terry Thomas, and Fritz Tresso. Instructions on how to vote are included in the mailing.

Ohio Department of Health Radon Licensing and Renewal Packet
Click on the above link to view the ODH radon licensing and renewal forms and instructions. If you get your renewal application sent in prior to 90 days before your license expires, you will not have a problem with your renewal unless you did not meet any of the OAC requirements for renewing your license.

AARST: President's Achievement Award
Dick and Gail Manning received a standing ovation recognizing their thirty years of dedication to radon risk reduction as they jointly received the AARST President's Achievement Award. It was presented by Bill Angel at the AARST International Radon Symposium in Jacksonville, Florida (September, 2007).

The Ohio Association of Radon Professionals will have Fall Continuing Education Conference on Saturday, October 06, 2007 at the Quest Business Center in Columbus, Ohio (8405 Pulsar Place - near the Polaris Fashion Mall - just northeast of Columbus on I-71). The conference will be worth eight hours of radon continuing education credit. Registration information was mailed on September 09, 2007. Registration forms and checks ($95 per person) must be received by Saturday, September 29, 2007.
The agenda includes a four hour presentation on marketing the radon message to real estate professionals. Course handouts will include a ready-made presentation tailored to agents.
Registration begins at 8:00 AM and certificates will be distributed at 4:00 PM.

Brochures are available at the price of $25.00 per 100 (not 25, as stated in the recent mailing). This price includes postage. Send a check for $25.00 (made out to "OARP") to Rich Spraggs, 1949 Beckert Drive, Piqua, OH 45356-4403.
25 brochures will be distributed to each OARP member who attends an OARP-sponsored continuing education conference. In other words, if you're an OARP member, you get 25 brochures for going to a OARP-sponsored conference. Additional brochures can be purchased at a conference at the price of $20.00 per 100.

Radon Continuing Education Conference: Columbus, Ohio on MONDAY, March 19, 2007
The Ohio Association of Radon Professionals will co-sponsor eight hours of radon continuing education in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Health’s “Midwest Workshop” at the University Plaza Hotel, 3110 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio on Monday, March 19, 2007.
